Celebrating independence by bicycle
To celebrate independence I packed up my bike and rode for two days through Illinois and Wisconsin. Enjoying the beautiful country and the friendly people I encountered. Camped one night in Kettle Moraine State Forest and soaked up nature. Nothing like sleeping and waking up outdoors. This short trip calmed my senses, strengthened my muscles and burned funny patterns onto my skin.
Riding on remote, county roads listening to my tires hum, birds sing and the wind rustling the leaves of the old oak trees at the side of the road was complete bliss.
Ah, the crackling of the fire, the distant fireworks, the yelling of the kids in the campground, the planes buzzing overhead... Eventually it all quieted down and there it was, the wind rustling in the leaves, an owl, and a woodpecker chipping away at some tree.
